I am Zara. I work on growth in organisations that no longer have a clear next rung. The old promise was legible: do this well for two years, get that title. Most people I work with no longer have that, and are trying to grow anyway without a map.

That brings its own set of problems. The plateau where effort stops producing visible progress. The ninety days in a role you were given before you felt ready. Learning something in front of colleagues who can see you not being good at it yet. Building habits when no two weeks look alike. Belonging to a team you mostly see on a screen.

I do not think any of this is solved by ambition. It is solved by knowing what progress looks like when nobody is handing out titles for it, which takes longer to work out and is worth considerably more.
